Is Peles Castle Open?

Peles Castle is closed 2 November to 1 December 2026 and every Monday and Tuesday. Hours, time-slot tickets in lei, Pelisor, and what day trips do on closed days.

Updated November 2026

Peles Castle is closed from 2 November to 1 December 2026 for cleaning and conservation, and it is closed every Monday and Tuesday all year, according to the National Museum Peles. Otherwise it opens on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 17:00 and from Thursday to Sunday from 9:15 to 17:00, with the last entry at 16:00. An adult ticket is 100 lei (November 2026). On Mondays and Tuesdays the day trips from Bucharest stop outside it; for the 2 November to 1 December closure some operators visit Pelisor instead and others do not say, so ask before booking a November date. Dracula & Castles Day Tours’ Day Trip to Dracula’s Castle, Peleș Castle, Cantacuzino Castle and Brașov adds a fourth stop, Cantacuzino Castle in Busteni, so a closed Peles still leaves two castle interiors; it was from $31 in current promotion (usually $62) a person, checked November 2026. Adults only: the listing excludes children under 18.

The short answer

If seeing the inside of Peles matters, travel on a Wednesday to Sunday from 2 December 2026, and buy the ticket for a morning time slot as soon as your tour is booked. If you are travelling during the closure or on a Monday or Tuesday, pick a day trip that has another castle interior on the day, or accept Peles from the outside and its grounds on a Monday or Tuesday, and ask the operator what a November day does instead.

From peles.ro, read 3 November 2026. Children up to 7 go in free, and pupils go in free during the school holidays.

Tickets are sold for an entry time slot, and the museum caps the day at 2,000 visitors at Peles and 1,500 at Pelisor. At Peles the slots run 10:00 to 12:45, 12:45 to 14:30 and 14:30 to 16:00 on Wednesdays, and from 9:15 to 11:00 on Thursday to Sunday, followed by the same three later slots. Within a slot, people go in in the order they arrive. You can buy online at bilete.peles.ro or at the self-service machines near the castles; the ticket cannot be changed or refunded. Tour guides, too, need a ticket to go inside, so on a group day your tour leader may wait outside.

Inside, the museum forms guided tours in Romanian and English at the entrance, at no extra charge. Photographs and video for personal use are allowed, without flash, and selfie sticks are not.

What the day trips do on closed days

For Mondays and Tuesdays the listings are explicit: the stop is the outside of Peles and its gardens, with the time given back to Bran or Brasov. For the 2 November to 1 December closure they are not: Trip2Ro and Zig Royal Tours srl say Pelisor is visited instead (30 lei, open Wednesday to Sunday from 4 November); One Excellence Tours says only that Peles is closed and that Pelisor is offered on busy days; the other days carded here say nothing about the closure. Ask the operator before you book a November date. The days that add Cantacuzino Castle keep a second interior: Cantacuzino in Busteni charges 85 lei for an adult for the castle, the gallery and the park, or 65 lei for the castle and the park, and it is open every day, Monday to Thursday 10:00 to 19:00 and Friday to Sunday 10:00 to 20:00 (cantacuzinocastle.com, November 2026). Its own site describes how its exterior was used for Nevermore Academy in the Netflix series Wednesday.

The castle

Peles was built between 1873 and 1914 in Sinaia, in the Prahova valley, and was the summer residence of Romania’s royal family. The building belongs to the Romanian Royal Family and houses the National Museum Peles, at Aleea Pelesului 2. From Sinaia station it is 1.9 km on foot, uphill through the park, if you come by train. Bucharest to Bran Castle covers the train.
